Our school will be participating in the Operation Encompass Drogheda
Pilot from September 2026.

What is Operation Encompass?
Operation Encompass is a partnership initiative between An Garda Síochána and participating schools. It helps schools provide understanding and wellbeing support to children and young people who may have been affected by domestic abuse.

How does it work?
If An Garda Síochána attend a reported domestic abuse incident where an eligible child or young person who attends our school was present, or habitually resides at the address, a limited notification may be
shared with the school's nominated Operation Encompass contact.
The only information shared is the child's name and confirmation that they were linked to a reported domestic abuse incident attended by An Garda Síochána.
No details of the incident, family circumstances or any criminal investigation are shared.
The information is shared only with the school's nominated Operation Encompass contact.

Why is this information shared?
The purpose of the notification is to let the school know that a child or young person may have been affected by a reported domestic abuse incident. This enables the school to consider whether any additional
wellbeing support may be appropriate and ensures the child feels supported at school. The information is shared to support awareness and understanding and does not change your child’s normal school experience.

Further information and FAQs for parents and guardians are available on the Operation Encompass page on gov.ie.
